The Wall Street bank is advising clients consider buying companies with a high level of capital expenditure and research and development expenses. Those companies have outperformed those returning cash to shareholders via buybacks and dividends this year by 2 percentage points, Goldman said. In this environment, investors typically reward companies investing for growth when economic growth is accelerating, if history is any guide, Goldman said. Because of the delivery delay, “our forecasted block hours for 2024 have been reduced and we are offering our pilots voluntary programs for the month of May to reduce excess staffing,” United Airlines said in a statement Monday. The Federal Aviation Administration is taking a closer look at United after a series of almost a dozen incidents at the airline, United said in a March memo. Tokyo CNN —An American airline passenger allegedly bit a female cabin crew member mid-flight on Tuesday, forcing an All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight bound for Seattle to return to Tokyo, an airline spokesperson said. Flight ANA 118 departed Tokyo’s Haneda Airport at 9:47 p.m. local time and turned around a little over an hour into its journey, according to flight-tracking website Flightradar24. An ANA spokesperson told CNN that the male passenger was detained by police after the plane landed in the Japanese capital. NEW YORK (AP) — Citigroup intentionally discriminated against Armenian Americans when they applied for credit cards, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said Wednesday. The bureau said some bank employees argued internally that Armenian Americans were more likely to commit fraud and referred to applicants as “bad guys” or as affiliated with organized crime. As part of the order, Citi will pay $24.5 million in fines as well as $1.4 million in remedies to impacted customers. However, in the bureau's order, these Citi employees used identifiable information that broadly discriminated against Armenian Americans in general. The bank has been fined or cited several times by the CFPB, as well as by the Federal Reserve, for unsound business practices.

The Biden administration’s fight against consolidation in the airline industry will be tested Tuesday with lawyers for JetBlue Airways and the Justice Department squaring off in court. The administration is suing to block JetBlue’s proposed $3.8 billion acquisition of Spirit Airlines. The Justice Department is fresh off victory in a previous lawsuit that killed a partnership between JetBlue and American Airlines. If it swallows Spirit, JetBlue will leapfrog Alaska Airlines but still control less than 10% of the U.S. air-travel market. REUTERS/Carlos Barria/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsWASHINGTON, Aug 25 (Reuters) - The death of an airline employee in December and another serious injury prompted the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to issue a safety alert on Friday to airlines in an effort to prevent more incidents. The safety alert reiterates that "it is important for workers to remain clear of operating engines until they are shut down," the FAA said. The alert comes as questions arise about U.S. aviation safety after a series of troubling near-miss incidents. The flight was operated by Envoy Air, a wholly-owned subsidiary of American Airlines and the worker was employed by Piedmont Airlines, another American subsidiary.
